Family Fright FestEvil in Oughterard this Halloween.
|

On Sunday October 30th 2016 Oughterard transformed into a spooky haunted village. The Oughterard Fright Fest provided a full day’s free entertainment for all ages.
The unique Fright Fest kicked off on Sunday October 30th from 1pm at Aughnanure Castle with the free “Bats about Halloween” event which ran till 5pm. There was a fancy dress competition, face painting by the wonderful Loopy Lou and a very engaging bat workshop presented by Galway Bat Group.
The local restaurants Breathnach’s, Halloran’s, the Greenway Café, Camp Street Café, Power’s, The Boat Inn all servied up some spooky “Halloween Bites” - family based menus at scarily good prices!
At 6:30 pm all our little witches, zombies, ghosts and fairies alike took part in “The Nightmare on Main Street”. We met at the village square and paraded down to the Monster Marquee in Corribdale Park to enjoy some spooky face-painting and then kicked up our heels at the Banshee Ball with DJ Aidan Kenny.
For the older children, teenagers and the adults who were brave enough to enter, there was the “Field of Screams”. This Woodland terror Trail was a truly hair-raising experience! Taking place in the haunted woods of Corribdale Park the participants came face to face with some creepy critters, demons and ghastly ghouls who made sure to extract blood curdling screams from all who dared enter!
